What you share with us

We process the listing link, pasted text, or selected photo crop you submit, along with any details you edit. We use this information to identify the computer’s specifications and produce your report. Please leave out names, addresses, account details, and anything private that isn’t needed for the check.

You can use the checker without an account. We use a secure browser cookie lasting up to 30 days to remember your visitor session and alert preferences. It contains a random identifier, not your email. Joining deal alerts saves only the email you enter, your preferences and signup consent. Optional verified-tester access uses an account identifier and email address.

Photos and saved reports

The crop preview runs on your device. Only the image you choose to submit is sent for reading. We do not save the uploaded image in our app. Extracted text and specifications may be kept briefly for repeat reads and included in a report.

A report can contain the listing title, product link, specifications, your edits or notes, and the price comparison. Report links are available for 72 hours. Anyone with a new report’s link can view it until it expires. Reports created during private testing keep their access protection.

Keep report links private when appropriate. Copies you save, print, or share are outside our control.

Usage and service protection

We measure checks, report views, visits, and clicks to improve the service. These activity records use a coded identifier instead of your email or IP address. They do not contain pasted listing text or full listing URLs. They may include a report identifier, the store, and whether a check worked. A click does not tell us whether you bought anything.

We also process connection information, including IP addresses, to prevent abuse and keep the service available. Our app uses coded identifiers for its usage limits. Our hosting and service providers may keep their own security and technical logs.

Your browser remembers your light or dark theme. We also use the visitor-session cookie described above; optional tester sign-in uses access cookies. We do not add advertising trackers or sell your personal information.

Services that help us operate

When you email a report or send us a message through the contact form, we use Resend to deliver it. Report emails go to the address you enter and contain the saved report link, not your uploaded photo. Contact messages include the reply address you enter and the details you choose to send. Neither form signs you up for deal alerts or changes your alert email. We do not add email tracking pixels or click tracking.

We use service providers for hosting, sign-in, AI reading, and retrieving product pages. Selected images and listing text may be processed by OpenAI; listing links may be sent to the retailer and our webpage-reading provider. These services process information needed for the check and may retain security or service records under their own policies.

Tips are handled on PayPal’s website. We do not collect card details in PC Deal Check. PayPal may provide the business with payment and payer information as part of a transaction. Retailer, payment, and other external sites have their own privacy policies.

How long information stays

Photo-read results: available for repeat reads for about 15 minutes; the uploaded image itself is not saved in our app. Short excerpts supporting identified hardware may also be held briefly while a report is created and retained with that report.
Reports and product details: report access expires after 72 hours. Some extracted product details from listing links can be reused for up to seven days.
Alert signup: kept until you leave the beta. Leaving removes your saved signup email and preferences.
Activity: our retention targets are 30 days for link-check records and 90 days for visitor usage records.
Email: delivery-protection records use coded identifiers and have a 35-day cleanup target. They do not store your message body or email address. Contact messages stay in our mailbox while we handle your inquiry and any necessary follow-up; you can request their removal. Our delivery provider may retain its own delivery and security records.
Price suggestions: the suggested price, link, and note are kept for review, with a 30-day cleanup target. Approved pricing changes and related review records may be kept longer.

Expired records are removed during routine cleanup, which may happen after the periods above. Expiry is not a promise that every stored copy is deleted at that exact moment. Service providers’ records follow their own retention policies.

Your choices and questions

You can crop out private information, choose what to submit, and leave deal alerts from your alert preferences in the same browser. If you clear cookies or change devices, contact us to remove or update your signup. You can clear your saved theme through your browser settings.

For questions or a request to access, correct, or remove information, use our contact page. We may need to confirm that the request is yours. Include the relevant report link if you have one, but never send passwords or payment details.
